The Milwaukee 2691-22 18-Volt Drill/Impact Driver Combo includes the Milwaukee MWK-2601-20 Compact Driver and the Milwaukee MWK-2650-20 Impact Driver in one great cost-effective package – both tools for not much more than the cost of one. Both tools use Milwaukee’s 4-pole frameless motor which gives approx 20% more power than a 2-pole motor, and there’s a battery charge indicator on the batteries, which is very important with lithium-ion batteries as they have full power right up to the end and then quit without warning.

Both are compact and lightweight for use in small spaces, and have built-in LEDs to illuminate your work. The drill/driver delivers quiet, controlled power with its two-speed gearbox and 24-position clutch, while the impact driver is the fastest, strongest and longest running in its class with 1,400 in./lbs of torque and 0-3,200 IPM.

What to Look for When Buying a Cordless Drill and Impact Driver
There are a number of things to look for when buying a cordless drill. The most important are the number of volts (=power), the battery, the weight of the drill and the speed.

How Many Volts?
One of the most important components of a cordless drill is the number of volts. The greater the volts the faster the motor spins and therefore the more powerful the drill. It does have a downside however in that generally the more volts you have the heavier the battery and therefore the heavier the drill will be. So you need to keep this in mind when choosing a drill. Think about whether you will be using it for long periods. If so, you don’t want anything too heavy – you will really be feeling it by the end of the day.

These Milwaukee tools provide a good balance between power and weight. With 18-volts they provide maximum power but are relatively lightweight at 5.3 pounds for the drill driver and 3.5 pounds for the impact driver. They’re also fairly compact with the impact driver being only 5-3/4 inches which is smaller than some 12-Volt drivers.

Lithium-Ion Batteries for Long-Lasting, Quick-Charging Performance
The Milwaukee 2691-22 Cordless Drill/Impact Driver Combo utilizes state-of-art lithium-ion battery technology to provide maximum battery life and quick charging – the recharge time of these battery packs is between 30 minutes and 1 hour. Lithium-ion batteries are also lighter than comparable 12-volt batteries, helping to keep the weight down.

A really useful feature on the Milwaukee batteries is the charge indicators – with lithium-ion batteries you have full power right to the end and then they quit completely, so you don’t get any warning that the battery is running down. The charge indicators mean that you can check exactly how much juice is left before you climb up on the roof!

If you’ve ever tried to drive a screw at high speed you’ll know that the screw can jump out of the slot which is not only annoying, but it can be dangerous. The beauty of these Milwaukee cordless tools is that they offers the convenience of a dual speed range – high speed RPM of 1-1,800 and low speed RPM of 0-450 – with 24 clutch settings so you can match the best speed to the job, giving you the option of adjusting the speed of the drill and slow it down resulting in more control.

MWK-2650-20 Impact Driver: Single Speed range
The MWK-2650-20 Impact Driver has a single speed range of 0-2,200rpm, and provides 3,200 impacts per minute with 1,400 in./lbs of torque. Unlike cordless drill/drivers, impact drivers are specifically designed to do one job: drive screws. As a result the 2650-20 Impact Driver has only a single speed range, which is much slower than the 2601-20 Drill/Driver, and doesn’t have – or need – a slip clutch. The combination of bit rotation and concussive blows provides improved screw-driving power, but requires less muscle from the user. Impact drivers are also much less likely to strip screw heads and at 5-3/4 inches long, the Milwaukee driver is designed to fit into small spaces where traditional impact drivers don’t – as a result, you get straight penetration and avoid damaging bits from angled driving attempts. The short length of the Milwaukee means you can apply maximum leverage, enabling you to get the most from this impact driver’s 1,400 in./lbs of torque.
